  1. Sir Francis Drake had no recorded children ,the best known line of this family comes from his brother William Drake Esquire who has an uncountable amount of relatives in The  United States and Canada ,including myself.

  2. Ancestry.com doesn't show any famous relatives of Francis Drake.  The Privateer most probably was born in February or March 1540 in Crowdale Parish, Devon, England, the eldest of twelve sons of Edmund Drake (1518-1585) a Protestant farmer later to turn preacher, and his wife, Mary Mylwaye.  His maternal grandfather was Richard Mylwaye while his paternal grandparents were John Drake (1476-1554) and Margaret Cole (1476- ).  Drake's father was a tenant in good standing of the Earl of Bedford, Francis Russell, who was also Drake's name sake and godfather.  Drake married at least two times:  1) Mary Newman (1569-1581);  2) Elizabeth Sydenham (1560-1598) whom he married in 1585.  Ancestry.com lists a third wife, Ursula St. Leger (1540), by whom Drake had a daughter,  Catherine Drake (1887 in Ashe Parish, Devon).

Drake was knighted 4 April 1881.  He died 27 January 1595 at sea in the West Indies and is buried at Puerto Bello, Panama.

  3. you can google him. you can also use rootsweb.com. I know there is quite a bit that someone has put on there. I have not proven any of it and he is one of my ancestors. You would have to check at the library for books.
