Sir Henry Cecil uncertain about Frankel’s participation in the Breeders Cup in the United States
Frankel, officially rated as the world’s best flat horse, may not be able to compete in the Breeders’ Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the United States at the end of 2012.
Trained by Sir Henry Cecil for Khalid Abdullah, the four-year-old has an extremely successful record with no defeats.
Cecil told the press that the young runner is most like to excel over short distances. "A mile and a quarter will be when he is settled and is happy at that trip. I never work my horses over the distance they are going to run and try to work him as
short as you can and leave him the gears to go through in his races."
The son of Galileo, out of mare, competed in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Sponsored By Qipco (British Champions Mile) at Ascot on 15th October, 2011, which he entered as a favourite with the odds of 4 to 11. Teamed up with
jockey Tom Queally, he demonstrated his talent on the track as he defeated, Excelebration, by 4 lengths.
In a press conference at Sandown on 2nd April, 2012, Cecil stated that that JLT Lockinge Stakes over 1 mile at Newbury on May 19th, 2012, will be the seasonal debut for the young runner. He said that "The Breeders'
Cup is not ruled out completely," but nothing can be said for certain.
Twice Over, son of Observatory, out of Double Crossed, is in training for this season. The seven-year-old gelding bagged a victory in the Juddmonte International Stakes (British Champions' Series) (Group 1) at York on 17thAugust, 2011.
He rode under jockey Ian Mongan and defeated, Midday, by three-quarters of a length.
Noble Mission, Frankel’s three-year-old brother, may be able to compete in the Newmarket's Craven event this month.
He entered the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Stakes (Div I) at Yarmouth with the odds of 6 to 1, but was defeated by 5 lengths at Yarmouth on 25th October, 2011.
Sir Henry Cecil has an impeccable reputation and has trained some of the best horses over the years.
