Sir Mark Prescott Bt – A multiple Group 1 winning trainer
Sir Mark Prescott Bt has been serving horseracing for quite some time now and he has had some memorable moments in his career. He has prevailed in numerous major events, but things have not been working positively for him over the past few years.
The veteran trainer started off his services in 1988 and has been entertaining millions of horseracing fans worldwide for more than two decades. His debut season was a good one for him, as he managed to win 34 events during that time period.
Although, the victories did not come in important events, yet it was important for him to have a positive year in order to gain confidence. He kept on working hard over the years and trained a lot of decent runners.
In August 1996, the talented trainer enjoyed his first major victory, which helped him earn a lot of respect amongst his rivals. He succeeded in the Nunthorpe Stakes Class A (Group 1) with Pivotal, who was one of his most successful trainees of all time.
The quality horse could have achieved a lot of victories in the sport, but he was unable to compete in many events. He only appeared in six races, winning four of them. His strike rate was really good and his name would have been in the all time best, had
he taken part in more competitions.
However, he was not the only horse, who benefited from Prescott’s experience. There was another one named, Alborada, who ended up being a multiple Group 1 winner.
The skilful mare triumphed in several Group 1 events for her team, which included the Dubai Champion Stakes twice whereas she also starred in the West LB Deutschlandpreis, Rheinland-Pokal der Stadtsparkasse Koln and IVG - Preis von Europa.
One she retired, there was not much left for Prescott and he had to look at some other runners for the important events. He trained a couple of more solid runners like, Confidential Lady and Hooray, who went onto succeed at the highest level of the sport.
However, it will be important for the experienced campaigner to focus on the future and prepare some future Group 1 winners.
