Sir Vivian Richards concerned over Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s remarks

West Indian legend, Sir Vivian Richards, expressed his concerns over the mismanagement in regional cricket, indicated by veteran batsman, Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
The left-handed player was forced by the selectors to retire from One Day Internationals (ODIs) and was dropped from his regional team, when he refused.
Richards stated, “When West Indies cricket was at its lowest (point), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shivnarine-Chanderpaul-c90073 stood out as a man who had some pride about what he wanted to achieve (more) than any other player in that team to me. I think he deserves a little bit better than
that.”
Chanderpaul was ignored for the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 following his dismal show in the ICC World Cup 2011. Other senior players, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Chris Gayle, were also not considered in the initial squad, but were contacted by the board later.
Gayle refused to join the team, as he went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 for taking part in the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL). He claimed that the board didn’t treat him well and only decided to join the lucrative league after being ignored for selection.
On the other hand, Sarwan was recalled in the final two games of the five-match series, which the team won.
Sarwan, along with Chanderpaul, will also be a part of the Test team which will host two matches against the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723, starting from Thursday, May 12, 2011.
The surprising thing for the cricket pundits in the Caribbean was that all-rounder, Darren Sammy, was retained as captain even after his below par performances in the Mega Event.
However, Richards supported Sammy, saying, “The ball is in his court, but I still think that in a thinking capacity he is the right person, but at some point he will have to (back it up). If he doesn't know that, he is in the wrong game.”
Richards was concerned over the future of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 team and said it was high time to take some positive and bold steps. The legendary cricketer was fed up of listening to all the excuses and said it was time to find a solution to all the problems.
