http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Anthony-Hibbert-c81005 reminds him of his own batting.
The 61-year-old Antigua veteran, regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the game’s history, said that he loves watching the one-field aggression and serious passion of Kohli, adding that while fielding, the talented Indian batsman is a lot like him.
"I love watching Virat Kohli bat. He looks to me like an individual of my own heart. I love his aggression and serious passion that I used to have. He reminds me of myself," Richards told PTI in an exclusive interview today.
"He is an individual who doesn't back off from confrontation. Someone who can stand his ground under pressure ... He is a livewire unlike some fielders, who would just dig a hole and dive in it rather than dive to stop the ball ... I love that as you can't
teach these instinctive aspects," added the West Indian batting prodigy.
Richards also hoped the flamboyant Delhi dasher to step into master blaster http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Peter-Hewitt-c66001, but only after the latter’s retirement. The Caribbean veteran insisted that as long Tendulkar is playing international cricket, one should give him due
respect. Replying to a question regarding the little maestro’s retirement plans, the West Indian batting great said that it should be the player’s call on when he wants to call time on his career.
"When Sachin wants to retire is his call. It's completely an individual call. He alone should decide. I would never dare to walk up to Sachin and tell him that 'You go tomorrow'," Richards said.
Richards, a veteran of 121 Tests and 18 One Day Internationals, further said that even after 24 years in international cricket, the Little Master did not look out of place, adding that the Indian batting prodigy can still go on for another 10 years.
The West Indian also admired Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s cool and calm approach, however, he stressed the need for the world champions to win in overseas conditions consistently, especially in the longest format of the game.
