Sir Vivian Richards not impressed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/D-Ramdin-c1299’s gesture – Cricket News Update
Sir Vivian Richards, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. The legendary batsman made it clear that he had criticised
Ramdin in the past because he was not doing well and not because of any personal grudge.
In the initial two Tests of the tour, the 27-year-old keeper had only scored 51 runs and consequently, Richards raised questions over his performance.
Ramdin batted out of his skin in the Birmingham Test and scored a valiant century under trying conditions to take his team to a safer position. The wicketkeeper however, got emotional upon reaching the landmark and took a paper out of his trouser pocket,
which read, "YEH VIV TALK NAH".
Richards is not happy with Ramdin’s gesture and revealed that he had a great liking for the keeper in past but was not happy with his progress at the international stage. One of the greatest batsmen of all times expressed that as an analyst, it is his job
to criticise or appreciate the performance of the players.
"I am the one who touted him as a future captain for West Indies and always thought of him as good but his form had dipped quite recently and I addressed those issues. I questioned his ability because he had lost his confidence and thereby lost his shape,"
said Richards.
West Indies have already lost the series by losing the first two Tests and the former West Indian captain believes that one should not over-celebrate personal milestones when the team is not doing well.
However, Richards did admit that Ramdin played brilliantly to rescue his team from a poor position; otherwise, the visitors would have been in danger of a whitewash.
"It is like being in a football match and your team is losing 5-0 and up comes a guy, scores a goal and starts jumping out of joy. He has played well and if you're given enough chances you're going to get it done. He should be happy
and humble," said Richards.
