Sire De Grugy set to lock horns with Cantlow in Lingfieldpark.co.uk Novices´ Chase
Only five stallions have lined up for action in the Lingfieldpark.co.uk Novices´ Chase at Lingfield in England on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. All of them are capable of fighting for a victory, thus the competition will be quite an interesting one.
However, the bookmakers believe that no one will be able to come anywhere closer to Sire De Grugy, who has been awarded the highest odds for victory. He is immensely talented and knows how to handle pressure. He is very good at jumping and makes very few
mistakes, which is a positive sign.
He will be required to bring in all his skills for the class-4 contest at Lingfield, which is scheduled to kick off at 14:00 GMT. A victory will help his team bag a cash prize of at the end of the day.
However, things will not be easy for him, as the ground has been badly affected by rain. Due to this, the going has become heavy and it will test the stamina of all the runners over a distance of 2 miles.
Sire De Grugy might not like the track conditions today, which will be a concern for his team. He would have loved racing under normal circumstances, as he can produce his best when he gets a chance to attack.
The six-year-old gelding has appeared in a couple of chase races until now, winning one of them where finished as a runner up in the other one.
Although, his trainer Gary Moore would have been pleased with both the results, yet he would have realised that his challenger could struggled on a rain affected ground, as he was unable to succeed under such circumstances.
Due to this, some of the bettors might gamble against the favourite runner in order to win some bets on someone like Cantlow, who has also been given a pretty decent starting price by the bookmakers.
The seven-year-old gelding has appeared in just one race in this format and failed to meet the expectations of his fans back then. Despite being rated as the favourite to succeed, he finished in second place.
However, he has a chance of making amends this time around under veteran jockey, A. P. McCoy.
