I am attempting to install my sirius radio into a 2004 VW passat. Everything went smoothly, but the radio stays on when the car is turned off. I have tried all three power (cigarette) adaptors in the vehicle. Does anyone know what I should do?

  1. Your cigarette lighter is wired to work with the key off. You'll have to either rewire it to a key on only power source, or get used to turning it off all the tie.

  2. is that after-market radio??? hope so cause if so its simple U have the wires mixed up and connected to constant power and should be on the switched power,,,,and what cig. lighter r U talking bout,,,ohU mean the portable plug-in joint??? ok if so nd it has wires U still have it on the wrong wires AND does'nt it an on/off button,,,check the manual one more time,,,

  3. You can purchase a 12v DC socket (similar to a cigarette lighter socket) that can be wired directly into the vehicle wiring or fuse box, using a key-switched power source.

Your Sirius radio should have an auto-off feature, which will automatically shut the radio off if you don't touch a control for a set amount of time.  If you activate this feature, you can leave the radio on when you leave the car without worrying about your battery.

Ray Jay, a Sirius radio is usually a portable satellite radio unit that plugs into a cigarette lighter for power.
