My sister is 9. She called me at school today (we just got out on spring break finaly) saying she was going for a bike ride.

(elementry schools get out earlier and parents weren't home) I told her to stay at the house when i'd get home 10 minutes later we would go for a ride. When i get home she is not there her bike was gone and her helmet was lying on the ground. So i call my parents and get on my bike and ride over the neighborhood and can't find her,I like ride around for 30 minutes and i am fraking out Then i finaly see her playing near a construction site in a creek full of high water ( we sometimes do that but i have stressed over and over that she need to have someone w/her) ! I took her home but my brainless sister does not see what the "big fuc*ing deal is" (her words) I don't want to be her when dad comes home!

She scared the living s**+* out of me and just doesn't seem to care. What to do.

  1. If i was her parent she would be grounded for at least a month.

  2. First off, I've moved around with my family a few times and every district we have been in has always let highschool and middle school out before elementary schools to prevent problems like this.

This is what I see she did wrong, and how that would be punished in my house:

Left without telling a parent where she was going-grounded for 1 week

Didn't wear her helmet- no bike/scooter/skateboard for 1 week

Went somewhere she wasn't supposed to be on her own- grounded for 1 weekend

So adding it all together, she needs to be grounded for a week, including the next weekend and she also cannot ride her bike/scooter/skateboard for that time as well.

  3. Wow, where do I start?

No 9 year old should be home alone.  Were you supposed to meet her?  If not, then Mom or Dad should have been there.

    She left w/o permission.

    She didn't wear her helmet.

    She uses foul language.

She goes where she's not supposed to.

You don't get to pick her punishment, but as a parent, my daughter would be grounded throughout spring break for this.

  4. 1-she needs a whoupin' 2- she will be a bad girl if she dont stop.3- have ur mom tell her 2 stay @ her school play ground untill u come around to pick her up...4-no offense she is sorta a brat!!!

  5. talk to your parents have her disciplined but don't take discipling as your responsibility she wont respond to you. and tell your parents shes not using very nice words...

  6. wow

I used to be home alone since 4 or 5 tho I dont think it's a good idea

  7. I think it is normal about being 9 - just like teenagers have the tendency to think that they know everything, 8-10 yr olds seem to commonly have the mentality that nothing will hurt them.

I think punishment for this one will only make her mad, and it is more important to make her realize about life right now and with her mouth it sounds like she needs a wake up call really quick! Rather than punishing her, talk to her, and remind her how scared you were for her. Then have her volunteer @ a homeless shelter, so she can see life first hand and how scary things can be without family!
