Sive Dubh to dominate her seasonal debut in the 2012 Sporting Press Irish Oaks Round 1 Heat 5 at Shelbourne Park
The most intimidating entry for the 2012 Sporting Press Irish Oaks Round 1 Heat 5 is Sive Dubh, Droopys Maldini's three-year-old black daughter out of b***h, Cuam Dubh. The race will be held over 525 yards flat at Shelbourne Park on Thursday, 24th May.
The rest of the contenders competing for the €100 prize money are Lodgefield Boss, Celebrity Juice, Seans Ranger, Swift Impulse and Call It Pauline.
She is a very lightly raced hound and has raced three times during the previous season. She got drilled over 525 yards on 17th May, 2011 and then over 330 yards on 28th June. She got hold of the prior distance in 30.21 seconds and took 18.61 seconds to settle the latter training session.
She monopolised the seasonal debut on 30th July over 574 yards by timing the track distance in 29.31 seconds. She led the runner up of the race, Distant Delight, by two lengths.
Having set strong footings in the career debut she went on to dominate the very next race too. She won a 574 yards race on 3rd September by clocking the track distance in 29.28 seconds. She took charge of the final six and a half lengths.
Sive Dubh missed on the seasonal hat trick by scoring a second position in the Grade A2 M+W Group A2 525 on 29th September at Shelbourne Park.
The race was won by the 2/1 joint favourite, Captain Scolari, who timed the distance in 28.64 seconds and led by four and a half lengths. The other joint favourite, Droopys Choi, ended sixth after racing for 29.16 seconds.
The race was the final outing of the previous season.
The three-year-old will race her seasonal debut today and has been drilled twice ever since the new season shot off.
On 2nd March she managed the 330 yards track distance in 18.31 seconds and then took 28.87 seconds to accomplish the 525 yards task on 17th May at Shelbourne Park.
Sive Dubh will have to tackle far more experienced and accomplished competitors on the track today but she has come right out of not one but two training sessions.
She has all the chances of striking the seasonal debut tonight.
