  1. Latitude: Distance north south from the equator.  Temperature generally cools the further from the wquator

Ocean Currents: Ocean currents are large movements of water that transport heat around the earth.

Winds & Air Masses: Much like ocean currents these are atmospheric currents that move heat around the earth surface.

Elevation: This is the height above sea level.  Temperature decreases with an increase in elevation.  On average 6.7ºC/1000m.

Nearness to Water: Water takes a long time to cool and a long time to heat.  As such places located close to water are moderated.

Relief: Mountains create rain-shadows as well as lush valleys and at times rainforests.  As such relief plays a very large role in climate.

  2. The most important factors are:-

    Distance From The Sea

    Ocean Currents

    Direction of Prevailing Winds

    Relief

    Proximity To The Equator

Recently, it has been accepted that human activity is also affecting climate.
