Six Flag season pass upgrade on a bring a friend free day?

The Six Flags in Gurnee, IL has a special where you can upgrade to a season pass for $54.99. Would this offer work if you got in free on one of the "bring a friend in for free" days?

IDK about illinois, but the one here in ca requires you to have your half of the ticket stub to prove that you paid to get in.  But usually thats not too much of a problem.  Look for them all over the floor during the day, you should find one.  If for some reason you don't, tell them that when you got on a wet ride, it was soaked, so you just tossed it.  Make sure to know how much a ticket costs (if they ask!)
