Six Flags question..rides office?

I have been hired at Six Flags. I was hired as a rides office employee. I was told that I will not be dealing with guests but with ride operators.

Can anyone give me a description of what the duties of someone working an entry level position in the rides office would be?

  1. you will probably be in charge of checking the seats and making sure the people are securly locked in. And maybe operating the ride , when it starts and stops...stuff like that!

  2. It's pretty comparable to being a secretary.

Primarily it'll be taking phone calls and data entry.  You'll also be trained on how to use the in-park radio, calling out breakdowns or to page a manager to call the office, a ride, or another office within the park.  Ride ops will call you to notify you of a breakdown; you'll write down the nature of the breakdown, where the units on the ride are (if applicable) and whether or not those units are loaded.  Then you'll get on the radio and call the breakdown out and keep notes on who in maintenance acknowledges it.  You'll write this information down on a breakdown log, then it will be put into the computer at the end of the day.  You'll also take paperwork from the rides at the end of the day and input certain information into the computer as well.

It's a pretty nice job for not having to deal with guests.  Sometimes I wish I could have done that job!  It's one of the jobs where you don't have to wear a Six Flags-issued uniform... at least it was back when I was there.  You'll have a warm/cool office in the winter/summer.  But unfortunately, chances are you'll be the only one on your shift doing it, so it can be stressful at times.
