Six last-out-winners to meet in Track Barron Stakes at Belmont Park
The spectators at Belmont Park are all set to witness half a dozen last-out-winners locking horns in the Track Barron Stakes on Wednesday, June 27th. The $85,000 event is the first stakes meeting for the 2-year-olds in New York this season. Among
the confirmed entries are: Real Rocknrolla, Shanghai Bobby, Nice Going, Cay To Pomeroy, Handsome Jack and Video Strom.
Shanghai Bobby seems to the strongest contestant in the race. The juvenile made a magnificent start to his career lately. He was mighty impressive on his debut, sealing an excellent victory in the Maiden Special Weight at Aqueduct.
Despite the fact that the Todd Pletcher-trained is in good position following a tremendous success, it is not going to be a trouble-free trip for him. Video Storm is also geared up to fancy his chances after his maiden success at Pimlico and looks to be
the second best choice for the punters.
The newly-turned 2-year-old made a couple of terrible outings before breaking the shackles last month. Maiden Special Weight saw John E. Salzman’s charge grabbing the first position quite easily. Another runner with fair chances of winning is Cay to Pomeroy,
who was a comfortable winner on his debut last month.
In the Maiden Special Weight at Belmont Park, Dominic G. Galluscio’s trainee did a wonderful job to ensure the top prize worth $33,000. It seems that the real contest will be among the aforementioned trio, but Handsome Jack is the one to watch out for.
The Wesley A. Ward-trained will be ridden by J. Rosario, who recently moved to New York after producing a lot of fascinating results in California. He is an experienced jockey and the bookmakers are expecting him to ride Ward’s charge brilliantly.
On his decision to come to New York, Rosario said: “Talked about making this move a year ago, but the time wasn’t right. When he brought it up this time, I said, ‘Let’s do it.’ I’ll probably have to wait a little longer because the track is so big, but it
still comes down to the horses you ride. Going to New York gives me an opportunity to get on good horses in big races.”
