Six months recovery time for New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez after hip surgery – MLB News
The New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez has been given a six month recover timetable after he underwent hip surgery in New York at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Alex has been suffering from a nagging hip injury which saw his performance decline during the 2012 Major League Baseball playoffs. Previously Rodriguez had this type of surgery on his right hip back in 2009. This surgery was done on his left hip. He will
be fully aware of the time it will take to rehabilitate himself and get back in to the line-up.
The Yankees’ fans are looking forward to seeing Rodriguez back on the field sometime around the All-Star break.  Kevin Youkilis will be used at third base as Alex’s replacement.
New York Yankees’ management released a statement regarding Rodriguez’s surgery and said, “went as planned and without complication.”
Rodriguez is sitting on a massive $275 million, ten year contract with the Yankees. The team is always conscious of his injuries and subsequent performance.
"Hopefully his surgery went well and he gets back as soon as possible," Yankees’ captain Derek Jeter said. "I don't know the details of how it usually takes, but you just want to make sure he's healthy."
The surgery was performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly. He is under the opinion that Rodriguez’s poor playoff performance can be attributed to his hip injury.
The rehabilitation process will be long for Rodriguez as the left hip surgery takes a little longer to heal due to the fact that Alex is a right handed hitter.
The Yankees’ fans will definitely be happy to hear that the surgery went well for Rodriguez as they are well aware of the talent he possesses. It will be exciting to see how well Youkilis can perform at third base as he was basically brought in during the
offseason just for this purpose.
Although many baseball experts feel that Rodriguez may have lost a step over the past few years, they are also hesitant to count a player of his level out from putting up big numbers during the 2013 MLB regular season.
The Yankees will be hoping that Rodriguez gets back to action as soon as possible as the competition will be fierce during the 2013 MLB season.
