  1. Yup swimming helps a little but I would do ab workouts on top o that.

And if you swim in competition every weekend that can actually do worse for your abs cause they lower the temp of the pool for racing and if your body is constantly exposed to shockingly cold water the body responds by layering itself with fat! That is why some swimmers look softer then other athletes.

So try and limit your meets to a minimum for awhile. Just get rid of the useless invitationals. Also if you must jump in the freezing water try and warm yourself up a little so it is not too much of a shock for your body.

  2. durr no... ive been doing competitive swimming for 3 years already and been going to far westerns which means you "rigorously swim" and train hard.  and i still dun have abs.  u sud do like crunches and sit ups :P  that sud get u those abs

  3. You dont get a six pack by swimming. You get more muscle on your arms, shoulders and legs

  4. yes, but crunches are better

  5. yes swimming is really good for toning your midsection, especially with the butterfly stroke. but if you want lots of muscle, lift weights

  6. Yes you can get a six pack by swimming although swimming alone might just make them more toned and not as noticeable.

    Keep swimming.

Do lots of fly kick on your back in a streamlined posit. for more insensity sit up slighly in the water and fly kick with hands above head.

Do lots of dry land ab exercises.

Swimming alone prob. won't get you there fast although it will eventually so add some dry land and keep swimming.
