Six reasons why Phoenix Suns should retain Steve Nash – NBA Feature (Part 2)
Hard to find a best deal for Nash
It wouldn’t be easy for the Suns to find a best deal for Steve Nash. The most popular deal that surfaced in this regard has been that Nash would supposedly be sent to the New York Knicks. According to reports, by doing so, the
Suns will be looking to land some good players from the franchise that made it to the playoffs.
The names that popped up for the exchange were of Chauncey Billups and recently drafted Shumpert. According to the former General Manger of the Knicks they need to build a good support cast around Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo
Anthony in order to excel to the finals next season.
This clearly tells the story how the support cast of the Knicks performed in the last season. As far as Shumpert is concerned, he is a young guard, who was picked up as 17th overall from the 2011 NBA Draft by the Knicks
and is yet to prove himself in the league. Anyways, Billups and Nash are both in the same age group and Nash being the better of the two, it wouldn’t be wise of Phoenix to get involved in this kind of trade.
As far as the Heat is concerned, an ideal package for the Suns would include one of the Big Three. With Pat Riley clearly indicating that the South Beach franchise has no intention of disturbing the star trio of LeBron James, Dwyane
Wade and Chris Bosh, gambling for other fringe players would land the desert city franchise with nothing.
Nash wants to stay in Phoenix
Steve Nash has got an incredible love for his team and has said on number of occasions that he would love to continue his journey with the Suns. Expressing his views over the trading rumours, Nash said, “I'm ready to keep playing
in Phoenix and continue to build the team and win a championship.”
Nash is one of those players, who can do anything to get a championship ring and because of this very reason he always tried to gave his 100 percent. Therefore his followers expect a lot from him and he too never let them down.
Moreover, his dream of winning the title proves that Nash is a team player and he always wants the best not just for himself, but for his team too.
Because of his loyalty towards the Suns it is expected that after the expiry of his contract, he might re-sign with Phoenix as veteran’s minimum. It was because of this thought Nash was also called an old school thinker.
In reply to that, Nash said, "Maybe I'm old school, but I signed a contract to play here and I want to honour it. I feel like I owe it to my teammates and the city and everybody to keep battling until they tell me it's time to
go."
It’s hard to find such dedication and loyalty these days, as it’s a rare commodity. The Suns shouldn’t forget this fact before reaching any deal.
