Six runners lined up for Shepherd Neame United Hunts Open Champion Hunters´ Chase
Only six runners have lined up for action in the Shepherd Neame United Hunts Open Champion Hunters´ Chase at Folkestone in England on Thursday, May 17, 2012. The winning horse will bag a cash prize of £1,872.
Stamina will be the key in the race, as the overall distance to cover for all participants will be 3 miles and 7 furlongs. The going will be good and the action will begin at 19:25 GMT. Following entries have been confirmed for the event: Mid Div And Creep,
Swordsman, Arbour Hill, Cold Mountain, Elsie´s Pride and Orfeo Conti.
Mid Div And Creep has been given the best odds for winning by the bookies. She seems to be in good form compared to her rivals, thus the punters are also likely to risk a lot of money on her.
The 12-year-old mare has participated in six chase races until now, winning just one of them. In addition to that, she has also secured the runner up and third place once each in her career.
The Lawney Hill’s trainee was rated favourite in her most recent outing as well, but she was unable to meet the expectations of everyone. She could only manage the sixth place, as a result of a mistake during the race. She did have some time to recover in
the end, but lacked the stamina to do so.
Mid Div And Creep will be ridden by Miss G. Andrews, who has won nine chase races until now in her career. However, her strike rate is on the lower side, which suggests that she is not a consistent performer. She will need to lift her game in order to attract
more bets in the future.
On the other hand, Swordsman has the experience to match his rivals in the race at Folkestone today. He has entered 60 races in his career until now, but does not have a good strike rate at all.
However, the 10-year-old gelding has performed relatively better in chase events, winning a couple of them out of 10 attempts. Moreover, he has also secured the third spot on three occasions, which shows that he has the potential to fight for top positions.
