John Terry, cheated and then sacked as captain
When one thinks about John Terry, Portsmouth F.C, Aberdeen and the FIFA bribery scandal, it seems that 2010 has been a pretty busy year for our learned friends from the judiciary indeed.
Most of the time, when an injunction is lifted it is usually a false alarm but the riot of speculation is what British media is good at and they were given a lot of work and perhaps, bonuses by someone called ‘John Terry’ a.k.a, “Captain Fantastic” for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749
and Chelsea.
The tabloid media hounds were unleashed on Johan Terry with stories of extra marital affairs, back stabbing and cheating as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 cheated on his one-time drinking mate, Wayne Bridge as he wooed away his ex-wife and his baby’s mother.
So much was the uproar that was caused by the whole incident that England manager, Fabio Capello, called the England captain for a meeting that lasted only 10 minutes and it was later announced that Terry had been stripped off the captaincy of the English
national team.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello. But the Manchester City player made it clear that he will never play for England as long as John Terry is in the team.
The feud was heated up even more when Manchester City visited http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at the Stamford Bridge in a Premier League match and Wayne Bridge refused to shake Terry’s hand and then put up one of his best performances ever as City beat Chelsea 4-2 and Bridge made
the Stamford ‘Bridge’ his own.
After the match, a very peace loving, shy, and quiet http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471 (I know it’s all wrong) declared another famous quotation about Terry. “Everybody in football knows what the guy is like”.

On October 15 2010, it was announced that after months of speculation, American sporting giants, New England Sports Ventures (NESV) had finalized the deal to buy Liverpool F.C.
After “ thanks but no yanks” and “Bought by Shanks and broke by Yanks” and 3 months of all talk and nothing happening, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Hicks and Ruud Gillet” sold the club to John Henry who happened to be the owner of American baseball side, Boston Red Sox.
The debt of 237 million pounds was paid off as Martin Broughton was made the chairman at Liverpool but the “Yanks out” chants made no difference as a new Yank took charge at Anfield. A turbulent period of one of England’s most successful club came to an
end and now, the ‘Kop’ seems to have recovered from the whole fiasco and with NESV in charge, it is for sure that Liverpool will be able to return to the lofty heights of the Premier League.
But Tom Hicks wasn’t going to let go of the club that easily and put on a fight that started with him launching an appeal at a Texan court in order to stop the takeover and after sucking out the club's money, was even battling to claim $1 billion in supposed
damages.
The Gillet and Hicks consortium is believed to have suffered losses of around 144 million pounds but there seems to be little sympathy about it.
John Henry can be considered as a shrewd businessman and he seems to know how to work with a club as he helped the Boston Red Sox win the MLBA after 70 years; 3 years later when he bought the franchise.
