Six strikers that Arsenal should target – Part 1
It would be an unfitting end to the glorious reign of Arsene Wenger if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 were to miss out on silverware in the coming years. The Frenchman could very well see an unsuccessful end if Arsenal were to extend their trophy drought past the next season.
Wenger has reiterated the fact that he will make use of the transfer season to strengthen the squad and bring in quality players in various areas on the team to make sure that they can sustain their title bid next year. His reluctance at offering large sums
of money for proven names has come out and hurt the team badly.
However, this season is different and it is a crucial time for the Arsenal legend, Wenger. In terms of transfers, this season may turn out to be different because Wenger is firm on his stance of buying new players and fusing them into the current squad of
talented youngsters.
Arsenal has with them http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 who is an excellent striker with a superb vision, movement and technique with a killer left foot. However, his problem is that he is unable to keep himself fit for the majority of the season and spent half of the current
season on the treatment table. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Chamakh-c24294 has been exceptional in the first half of the season but faded out as Van Persie returned and his playing time got restricted.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 is likely to leave Arsenal at the end of this season and this could make way for Wenger to bring in some strong reinforcements up front. The additional support will free up other areas which will also require quality players.
Here are six players who should be the prime targets of Wenger if he is to challenge for the title next season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721:
The prolific striker is plying his trade with the French club Lorient and his stellar performances this year have seen a major interest from some big clubs out there.
Although he is smaller than most strikers out there at 5ft 7in and might struggle with the physical side of the Premier League, his intelligent passing and pace has allowed him to score goals at a very consistent pace. With only one year on his current contract
remaining with Lorient, the French club will be keen to sell him out this summer if they do not want to lose him for free.
Gameiro is a versatile player who can play on either flank but his favoured position is centre-forward and could well be the all-out striker that Arsenal needs to free up Robin Van Persie.
This French 24-year-old fills the spot of small forward in his squad and started his professional football career with Marly-la-Ville in 1993. Since then he moved through other youth academies to finally get recruited to the Strasbourg training grounds in
2004.
The player spent a year in training before he got bumped up to the first team squad in 2005, in the following three years with the club Kevin stepped onto the football field 58 times to score 10 goals in the process. His performances have been decent and
have drawn the attention of many big teams in the league.
