I try to put my six week old baby to bed between 10 to 12 at night, she sleeps till about 5 am, wakes for a bottle, back to sleep at about 6, wakes up at about 8 for a bottle, back to sleep till about 9 or so. she takes a nap at about 11 till 1 or 2. then at about 4 pm she takes about a 3 hour nap till about 7. i try to keep her up till her bedtime after that but she usually catnaps till her bedtime. question is, how do i get her to sleep for more than an hour at a time in the early part of the morning, and do you think she sleeps to much during the day? i cant seem to be able to keep her up.

  1. Neither of my kids napped long in the mornings.  I think that after sleeping for such a long period over night, they probably can't.

  2. wow, my little one didin't start sleeping over 5 hours at night until three months!!! you are lucky!!  I wouldn't worry about her sleeping so much, she is still very young.  My son use to go to bed at 9 and wake up every 4 hours to nurse, slept the whole way through each feeding and didn't actually get up until 11.  Normally babies don't get a good scedual till around three months.  And six weeks is a little early to let her cry it out till she goes back to sleep, at this stage you just kind of have to let them stay awake, i know that isnt what a sleep deprived mommy wants to hear.  Good luck mommy

  3. We follow the  idea that the child needs to sleep every 1.5 during the day.  I would try and move her "bedtime" to 6pm or 7pm.

  4. i think its too young to try scheduling her...she has to be atleast three months before you start that and  alot of kids dont even sleep properly then.....6 week old they sleep a lot...
