Question:

Six year old had loose tooth, Daddy yanked it with string...?

It had been loose for approx. 3 weeks, driving her nuts. We yanked it out. Couple days later a little white tooth nub shows up behind where the baby tooth was. Do adult teeth come in that fast after a baby tooth is gone? Could it be a piece of her baby tooth that didn't get pulled loose? It doesn't appear to be wiggly. Just curious as our dental insurance doesn't kick in for another month...

  1. no its just the beginning of the adult tooth

  2. Yep it is indeed the adult teeth so don't worry at all.

  3. The baby tooth comes out BECAUSE the adult tooth is pushing it up.  Yes, this is the adult tooth.  Don't do anything to it but brush it.

  4. Hmmm.... I think it's just that she grows faster than others. Though it is kind of strange...only a few weeks? When I was a kid it took about 1 or 2 months for a tooth stub to appear.

  5. That's her new tooth coming in.

  6. adult teeth push the baby teeth out and they will show up very soon after the baby tooth is gone, especially when the baby tooth is in there and that loose for an extended period of time :)

  7. The thing is-I don't understand why people yank their teeth out. It's not like it will stay in there FOREVER-it will fall out sooner or later.

Julz-I don't think you have to worry, because when your daughter had a loose tooth and you yanked it out-there probably was the adult tooth coming in at the same time.

  8. her baby tooth was probably overdue and it is most likely her adult tooth.

  9. it is just her adult tooth coming in.

  10. Yes, the baby tooth has become loose because the adult tooth has been growing

  11. Everyone is right, it's just the adult tooth - no big deal.  But here's a thought you should know about.  My oldest son and I both had the same problem losing our baby teeth -- the adult teeth would be fully in and our baby teeth wouldn't even be loose.  Genetic defect I suppose.  So, baby teeth sometimes have to be yanked - if you ever have the same situation, doing it at home might get painful and gross.  I think my son had to have 7 or 8 baby teeth pulled at the Dentist's office to make room for his new adult teeth.  Not that much fun.

  12. She's growing some balls now. don't touch it

  13. More than likely it is the new tooth coming in that fast, in fact my son has had new teeth PUSH the old one's out.  I took him to the dentist after one particularly gruesome baby tooth falling out epsiode and the dentist said that there was some root left in the gums, but not to worry, it would fall out in it's own time and the only times to really be concerned were if there was pain....
