  1. semi formal, that way the girls can wear comfortable shoes but still wear a nice dress

100 or so people that you actually know

it's okay to use someone you know

    ask for a small gift

    try a masquerade ball

  2. Informal, and less than 100 if you want it to be special. (And save money!)

For me, I'd want to be able to look back in a year and remember exactly who was there. If it's more than 50 people, everyone'll be clumping together, instead of one nice big flowy group.

In terms of food, just go buffet style. I presume it'll be a dinner party. If you can, have it catered so you don't have to worry about it. You want to enjoy it as much as possible without having to worry about anything. Your sixteenth is a time to hang with your friends and party, not worry about boys or serving food or whatever.

Definitely if you know someone who you know is a decent DJ, ask them to DJ! Maybe offer them some cash for the favour if you don't know them that well. It'll be more fun that way, anyway.

What should you ask for? Do you need anything else? You have a car and you're only 15…I'm 16, and I have to work for my first car. It'll be a few years before I can afford one. And my parents make well over a million a year. I think you're a very lucky girl as it is! And the way you throw off the thousands of dollars your parents are spending to take you to Spain and Italy when most people your age have never left the US yet because they can't afford it! It's a bit…well, I don't think it's the best thing, really.

Have you considered asking for donations to a charity in lieu of presents? Clearly print on the invitation "No presents will be accepted. In lieu of gifts, please bring an envelope with a cheque to (CHARITY NAME) in an amount of your choosing."

If your first reaction to this is "uh, no way!", you should think about why that is. You don't even have any ideas about what you want, but you know you want it. I don't know…think about it for a while, anyway.

As for theme: the 1920s are cool again, so a masked ball would be cool if you decide to go for the "what the h**l, let's invite everyone I've ever met" idea. If it's a smaller thing, tropical themes are lovely for summer and fun to decorate for.

  3. Have the girls wear a dress. Not too fancy but not just like a sun dress. Some dj's can be very expensive so just look around on google and see if you can find any. I DO NOT reccomend inviting lots of people. My friend did that once and the whole party sucked because of all the drama. Some people get left out too and thats really no fun. You want to have a party that the people that go to it can say. Wow, that was really fun, not Wow that party sucked. Do you have an ipod yet? If not that would be a good present. Or you could ask for kind of a room makeover. Maybe some new paint, some new inexpensive furniture that you like, and a new comforter set for your bed. Depending on when your birthday is you could have a luau theme. If its more in the winter/fall look around on oriental trading or party city. For food you could get a really nice cake, hotdogs/hamburgers, and little finger foods like cookies, chips, cheese and crackers, Stuff like that. Have fun!

  4. informal- more relaxed, open

50 or less- or else everyone will form groups and you won't get to see all your friends

food- your favorite, along with something popular like burgers

use your ipod or whatever for music.... who needs a dj?!?!?

ask for car accessories, cd's, whatever you like

  5. OMG what is this mtv?

Informal, it's just a birthday party. Why would you dress formally?

Why would you have 50 people at a party? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of! I had three people for ice cream at Ben and Jerry's for my 16th. The most guests I've ever heard of having is 10.

Being your own DJ is a bad idea. You won't be able to dance at all (which what I assume you have music for.)

Ask for what ever you want. You must have some money to have a car and two European vacations!

As for theme, I think that's kind of dumb. If it's just friends getting together then why would there be a theme?

  6. Whole grade, cause i'm sure some people wont be able to make it.

just some finger foods, or pizza

Get someone you know that would do it for real cheap

ask for some money so you can buy things whole you are in Spain and Italy.

Hawiaan, Rock & Roll, Celebrity, Candy Factory

  7. unformal so then everyone can feel comfortable an dance

rent out a place for the night an get colorfull lights to make it look like a club

invite the whole school the more people the better the party an everyone will be talking about it at school an some personal friends who dont go there but let then bring a friend so it wont be ocward for them

ask ur parents if they know some1 to be the dj at the party that will play what the poeple wanna hear !!
