Sixth NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit starts in Varadero – Volleyball news
Following the successful completion of Toluca Beach Volleyball Tournament in Mexico, the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit is going to make the next stop in Varadero, Cuba on Friday. All the action will take place at the Hotel Club Kawama in Varadero, Cuba.
The double gender competition in Varadero will be attended by 28 pairs from 15 countries, which fall under the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA).
The women’s tournament will take place with 11 pairs from Canada, hosts Cuba, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. On the other hands, men’s teams (two player teams) from Canada, Panama Guatemala, El Salvador, hosts Cuba,
Saint Lucia, Cayman Islands, Virgin Islands, Honduras, and Costa Rica will embark on the adventure.
The tandem from Panama will make its debut at this NORCECA Beach Circuit in Varadero. The number of teams has increased this year as only 25 duos participated in the last edition of the tournament in 2011.
Out of 28 participating duos, fourteen pairs already have the experience of playing at the beautiful blue beach of Varadero.
Duos from Guatemala, Cuba, Canada, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica are likely to create a lot of buzz on the scene. They are considered the pre-favourites of the competition. The home duos in both men’s and women’s tournaments will have a clear edge of playing
at home. They will be equipped with emotional support of their local fans. Moreover, the familiar conditions will also serve as a competitive edge for them.
Cuba Volleyball Federation has a big hand in brining this competition to the town. The local organisers of the event are hopeful about the success of the event. The Cuban Volleyball Federation urges more and more people to attend the event and to make it
a memorable venture.
Speaking ahead of the opening of the event, Arnaldo Sanchez of Puerto Rico said, “We know that the tournament will be successful, many of the competitors are from the Caribbean, an area that is developed in our confederation, so we have a lot of Caribbean
flavour in this Cuban island that took us for second consecutive year with such enthusiasm and organization.”
