Siyanda Xulu on trial with Arsenal
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Siyanda Xulu is on trial with Arsenal after failing to win a contract with Barcelona.
The 18-year-old South African is looking for a move to a top European club with Arsenal being the latest club to take a look at him. However, the North London side has stressed this is just an initial
move.
"We are extremely excited by the prospects that could be on the young man's horizon.
It is satisfying for us that the young man is being acknowledged and pursued by such esteemed teams. If Arsenal
are happy with him talks will open between the parties involved," said
Sundowns communication manager Alex Shakoane.
A move to Arsenal would mean a number of positives for Xulu. This could well be the latest coup as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger continues his policy of plucking young talent from
all regions of the world.
Brilliant for the player
Any deal would be fantastic news for Xulu because it would mean a move to a very competitive environment. Arsenal has a number of talented young players and Xulu's game would
benefit from this.
He would have the benefit from listening to an experienced manager like Wenger. There is no better coach in the world than taking a young player and turning him into a brilliant
first team prospect.
The pace and pressure of Premier League and Arsenal youth fit would improve the player physically. It would increase Xulu's fitness and allow him to compete for longer in intense
matches.
Xulu's personal life would improve under the financial security of an Arsenal contract. This should help the player fit into the lifestyle of living in North London.
"We are especially pleased that we continue to show that when you play for Sundowns the sky is truly the limit," added Shakoane.
