Siyar Bahadurzada to make UFC debut in 2012; faces Erick Silva at UFC 142 – UFC News
Afghan mixed martial art (MMA) fighter, Siyar Bahadurzada, has signed a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He would be facing Brazilian MMA fighter Erick Silva next year. Their bout is set to take place at
UFC 142 on January 14, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The 27-year-old Afghani MMA fighter will set foot inside the UFC octagon ring for the first time in his career. His debut bout is against the home town hero, Silva, the 27-year-old Brazilian who will be fighting in his career’s
second fight for the UFC. For Bahadurzada, his bout at UFC would be an important one.
Afghani MMA fighter has been an MMA professional fighter for quite some time and has been a successful one indeed. He has won twenty bouts in his MMA career with four loses. When facing against Silva, both fighters would try to
intimidate each other on the basis of their past performances.
However, Silva has only been part in thirteen MMA fights, which makes him the less experienced fighter. Bahadurzada was offered the contract from the UFC in September 2011 and the agreement was signed in November 2011. This made
Bahadurzada the newest fighter in the UFC and also a very rare entry from Afghanistan. His opponent, Silva, made his UFC debut at UFC 134 in August 2011 in Brazil.
He had a successful UFC debut when he defeated Luis Ramos through a knockout with his punches. Both fighters will enter UFC 142 with winning streaks giving them moral support. Silva is enjoying a nine fight winning streak which
began from August 2007 until his last bout at UFC 134. On the other hand, Bahadurzada, will enter the UFC ring after winning six consecutive fights.
On November 14, 2011, the UFC officials confirmed the reports that Bahadurzada has signed a deal with the UFC. The nature of the deal is a multi-contract one which entitles Bahadurzada to take part in UFC bouts for a long time.
UFC is known to have fighters from all over the world and once Bahadurzada enters the ring on his debut, the UFC would expand its market to faraway places such as Afghanistan and the southern parts of Asia.
