  1. THE REASON YOU ARE GETTING SO MANY DIFFERENT ANSWERS is because you didn't say what size board you ride. Longer snowboards are, of course, also wider. So if you are riding a 148 you would need a wide board - if you are riding a 165 you won't.

Use a snowboard size calculator and it will show you what "waist" width you will need for your board (width at the center):

It will also give you some suggestions. If you do need a wide board, I recommend the Ride Fleetwood - I love mine!

  2. no. you'll be fine if you have moderate angles on your board

  3. yeah.

  4. Not sure, buy your boots (if you haven't already) , then take them board shopping with you. Check for toe/heel drag. If they stick out at all, go wide.

  5. youre in a gray area. you may or may not need a wide board. take your boots and bindings (if you have them) to a shop with you and look at the board you are considering. the toes shouldnt hang over any more than 1 cm if any at all. if they do ya need a wide board.

    have fun boarding!

  6. Weight is also a factor. I am 180 lbs. and have 10.5 boots with large bindings. I ride a 158 and 160 uninc both have a waist width of 249. Generally you want ride a board with as narrow a ww as you can get. The new thing is to get a wide board that is shorter in length. 249 ww is about as narrow as you can get for a 10.5 boot.
