Hi, in the airport terminals at UK airports there is usually a metal cradle on a stand that says your hand baggage should be no larger than a bag that will fit into cradle, what are the dimensions please?

  1. It also depends on the airline. Some of the budget airlines' hand-baggage size allowance is smaller e.g. Ryanair. Each airline should show their allowances on their websites.

  2. cautionary tale:  my roller bag, which probably has enough miles to get its own free tickets, would NOT fit the template at Heathrow!  I jammed the m**o in, and I think the guy took pity on me and let me through...

I tried to find the answer to your q on BAA website, but you think the buzztards would have it on there?  No, but there is the very useful info that yogurt must be 100ml or less and inside your plastic bag.  After all, hardly anyone has carryon baggage, but everybody wants to fly with yogurt!

  3. Standard is 45 linear inches--height plus width plus depth.
