  1. The Charles Owen sizes are consistent through all of their helmets. They range from about 6-8.

  2. From what I can see (I have never worn a riding hat), there was a link for you to measure your hear. I would consult that link. But like I said, I have never worn head gear while riding, besides cowboy hats.

  3. The hat size should be the same no matter what style you get. I believe had sizes are standardized.

Skull caps can be used for schooling, and are often used on cross country. You can put a helmet cover on them to match your cross country colors.

The velvet hats can be used for schooling or any phase of eventing. They can also be used for dressage and hunter/jumper. The velvet hats are considered more dressy and proper for the show ring.

  4. Well, from what I read in the descriptions, the first one is made of fiberglass and instead of a permanent velveteen covering it has a removable silk one.

This is just my observation and suggest you use the link to get more information from the company to be certain.

    ****Edit***

I guess I did not read the question properly.  I thought you were asking about the difference in the helmets.  But, you can still use the link!!
