Sizing Europe, likeliest winner in Paddy Power Dial-a-Bet Chase at Leopardstown
Sizing Europe, who was brilliant last time, is a class act and looks the most likely winner of the Grade 1 Paddy Power Dial-a-Bet Chase, being hosted by Leopardstown on Thursday, December 27th.
The 10-year-old has grabbed several big prizes so far. The Mrs Angela Bracken-bred went on vacations after winning the Grade 1 Boylesports.com Champion Chase at Punchestown in April. He returned to action in equally good fashion, when crushing the rivals
in the Grade 2 PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park in October.
Another graded success was bagged by him last month. In the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase, he showed a dominating performance, and notched up the first place by 20 lengths.
In the hands of A. E. Lynch, Henry De Bromhead’s charge was third in the beginning but, by making smooth progress, he went second before the fourth fence.
The 1-7 favourite travelled nicely to lead well before the wire and, after getting his head in front, he didn’t relax even for a second. He extended his advantage to a great deal, and secured the victory with plenty of ease. Having won two graded events
this season, Sizing Europe is full of momentum.
His latest act at Clonmel was solid enough to believe that he wouldn’t face any difficulty in today’s mega meeting. Over a distance of two miles and one furlong, the son of Pistolet Bleu is due to face half a dozen rivals.
The going is soft, which is unlikely to be a concern for Sizing Europe. The €65,000-for-winner event is scheduled to start at 13:25 GMT.
Rubi Light is being considered as the main threat. The Robert Alan Hennessy-trained was quite disappointing last time. Nevertheless, it is hard to ignore the 7-year-old, because he becomes classy at his best.
Edgardo Sol’s trainer, Paul Nicholls, has a great record in Ireland, but the A. P. McCoy-ridden needs an element of luck after finishing second in two consecutive races.
Big Zeb is another powerful runner, who will be dangerous if delivering his best. The ground, however, is not a plus for the 11-year-old. Blazing Tempo is a very good mare, but holds chances only for the frame.
