Sizing Europe – An inspiration for young stallions
They say: Old is gold, and Sizing Europe has certainly proved that with his performances during the 2012 season. He has been delivering some excellent results with consistency for his team and has the ability to take on the best in the business like, Frankel
and Black Caviar.
The Irish runner has got a lot of experience, as he has been competing at the highest level since 2006. He knows how to tackle pressure and there are just a handful of events in which he failed to meet the expectations of his team.
Sizing Europe was impressive on his debut, as he finished as a runner up back then. He was not given very good odds, but proved to be the dark horse in the end. A better result was expected from his next time around, but he only finished in fifth place.
This indicated that he was probably not anything special and was just like any other ordinary performer.
However, the Henry De Bromhead’s trainee proved his critics wrong by winning a couple of back-to-back events, showing his class to everyone. He then ended the season with a third place finish, which gave a lot of hopes to his team for the future.
Although, he did not appear in a lot of contests during the next two seasons, yet his performances in those selective races were really good. He kept on winning with consistency and earned a lot of respect amongst his rivals.
Things really turned around positively for the 10-year-old, as he managed to win four events during that season. He appeared in six of them and was unstoppable on most of the times. He was unable to carry the similar momentum into the next year, but was
still quite competitive.
2011 was another productive year for Sizing Europe, as he succeeded in three events that year. Although, age was not on his side, he kept on making his team proud at the highest level against the best in the business.
Some critics might have thought that Pistolet Bleu’s son wouldn’t be able to handle pressure this year, but he proved them wrong. He has appeared in four competitions this season, winning three of them whereas secured the runner up position once.
This is a proof that age cannot stop any runner from winning races at the highest level. Sizing Europe is an inspiration for many stallions and he will continue to impress one and all in the near future.
