Sizing Europe looking good for Tied Cottage Chase
Sizing Europe is in very good shape at the moment and will start his Cheltenham preparations with the Boylesports.com Tied Cottage Chase at Punchestown in Ireland on Sunday, February 3, 2013.
The Grade 2 event has attracted some other solid runners too and the competition will be quite an interesting one. The horseracing fans will certainly be looking forward to some quality action during that event.
This competition is not a new one for Sizing Europe, as he has been here in the past too. He was victorious last year, thus his confidence level will be extremely good. He was up against a couple of very good runners back then, but did not allow them to
come anywhere closer in the end, winning by a staggering 15 lengths.
Since then, there was only one occasion, where the veteran stallion failed to finish on top of the table. Despite that, he did not disappoint his team completely and managed to finish as a runner up in that particular event.
Overall, the Irish challenger has represented his team in 34 races and his performances in them have been highly consistent. He has mostly given a tough time to his opponents and does not allow them to settle down easily.
Pistolet Bleu’s son has managed to maintain a very good strike rate, winning 18 races whereas secured the runner up spot on seven occasions. In addition to that, he ended up third on several times, which shows what he is capable of achieving.
His trainer, Henry De Bromhead, seems pretty confident of a solid show in the upcoming race at Punchestown and said, “Sizing Europe did a piece of work on the beach this [Tuesday] morning and I'm glad to say that he is in great form. He came out of his race
at Christmas well so we are looking forward to the Tied Cottage on Sunday. It was a key race in our campaign last year so we are sticking to that plan.”
On the other hand, Foildubh seems to be in good form too and his trainer, John Patrick Ryan claimed, “He appears to be in great nick at the minute and likes Punchestown, having won the Grade A Guinness handicap chase at the festival last year. Two miles
is plenty for him on heavy ground but obviously Sizing Europe is the horse to beat.”
