Okay, so I cant do a 1 foot spin at all. I just cant balance. Will a skate spinner help?

Also, should I buy the metal one on the plate or the plastic ones?

If I buy 2 of the plastic ones, could it help with 1 foot spins as well?

  1. i dont find that skate spinners really help, id just try and do something to improve your balance, and maybe ask your coach?

  2. I used to have a metal and a plastic one and I didn't think either really helped.  I agree with the person above me and I think the best way for you to get better at spinning is to practice on the ice.

  3. Not exactly, those are for more experienced skaters who are more comfortable with spinning. Really, try centering your spins more precisely. It might seem completely irrelevant but it really helps. Try going from backwards crossovers and stepping into the spin. Watch where your arms are, they can totally throw you off. The centering of the spin is just as important as the spin it's self, like a building needs a good foundation. If you can't balance, then practice scratch spins or do some yoga balancing poses. Good luck.

  4. Somehow I don't think that's going to help much.  Spins are mainly cultured out of pure practice.  You want to train your balance and core stability in order to spin.  If you try a google search, I'm sure you'll find many good core stability exercises!  A skate spinner merely helps you to train for speed and change of position off-ice.  It hardly does much for balance, which you yourself have identified as the main problem!  Good luck!

  5. They don't help that much. I had the metal one and it is so hard to spin on. The plastic one is really good. You just can't spin on tile. Bu it is much easier to spin on. It will travel so it is more like actually being on the ice.
