i am a beginner at skateboarding (i can only stay on the board for a little while before i lose my balance and fall off.), and i want to know what kind of skateboard i should get. i thought about getting a cheap one at walmart to practice on (this is the one i was considering: http://www.sportchalet.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2636939&cp=&view=all&keywords=skateboard&searchId=30488951483&parentPage=search).

which board do you think i should get?

p.s. im only going to use the skateboard to go cruising on, and maybe a few tricks. nothing to complicated or extreme though.

  1. First of all, I do not recommend any of the skateboards you stated. When I was 11 years old, my aunt bought me a skateboard from a sports store, it was really cheap. After I got to ollies, the trucks broke, the skateboard didn't last long.

    I really suggest you buy a skateboard from a real skate shop or a trusted online skate shop. They're products will last longer than the skateboards they sell at any department stores or sports stores. Plus, most of the skateboards that they sell can be dangerous for you as the wheels may stop suddenly causing you to fall, they're bearings aren't quality-made.

    The best thing to do is to buy a skateboard from your local skate shop. One of the best online skate stores are http://www.skatewarehouse.com. You can buy a blank deck to start off, a deck with no graphic or any technology. Some skate shops have their own brand, you can also buy that. Something like this deck here;

    Click on complete skateboard, change the wheels to Bones 100's wheels, they are a good cheap wheel. Also change the bearings to Bones Reds bearings, for good cheap bearings. I still have my set of Bones Reds, they work well. They would probably set the trucks to Royal trucks. My cousin has a pair of Royal trucks, he's been using them for about a year and a half now. So they're pretty good.

    The hardware, griptape and risers are all good, any cheap ones from a skate shop would do.

    Good Luck.

  2. don't even worry just give up your skateboarding days before you even get started cuz well walmart said:

    We're sorry, but the item you are looking for cannot be found.

    Please use either our search tool, or browse the virtual aisles by clicking on a department icon above.

    Thanks again for visiting Walmart.com!

    so I guess ice staking is in this winter =)

    get a not so expense one though and just learn how to ride it before you learn how to flip it. K ay G? wink wink see ya at the rave, bring them light glows and I'll brink the bottled water =)

  3. DO NOT BUY A WALL MART BOARD!!!!

    that is the worst decision you can ever make. if you want a good board for a decent price, just go to any skateshop and buy a complet. this will be a board already put together and is 1000x better than a wall mart board. TRUST ME

  4. get the secend one the one that is NOT from wal mart any board is better than a wal mart board trust me!!
