Skateboard for cruising?

Hi, I'm a college student and am looking to a skateboard to get around campus. I'm not looking into longboards. I got a good price off of a tokidoki skate deck, but I don't know what parts to get for it, let alone how to assemble it.

What suggestions on specs do you have for using a skateboard for cruising? And are there skate shops that can do the assembling?

Use big, soft wheels.  You will probably need to get riser pads so you don't get wheel bite.  Any good quality truck will be fine,  I ride Indys, but be sure to go with a medium or soft bushing.  If you want more of a 'surfy' feeling try a set of Randal carving trucks.  The only other things you will need are a set of bearings, hardware and grip tape if your deck is not already gripped.  

The skate shop you buy the parts from can assemble it for you.  Since you didn;t buy everything there, they might charge you a few bucks to put it together.

the biggest softest wheels you can find and some really smooth bearings... i would say black panthers they ride like a dream get some of those trucks that have the spring so you can turn real fast and smooth.

I recommend 60mm wheels and Gull Wing trucks. If you already have the deck, just drop out the old trucks and pop on the new ones. Pretty simple. The Gull truck are double hinged so you can carve alot smoother and sharper. the 60mm wheels help maintain control and momentum.

If you have the deck you need bearings,trucks,wheels,hardware,griptape... For cruising you want 56-58mm wheels and 1/8 or 1/4 inch riser pads and as for trucks,independents are the best and for bearings get bones reds,there the best and there like $15 a pack(great price).if this is your first board you probably want to go to a skateshop and have them assemble it for you and then you can watch them and the next time you can do it yourself.good luck!
