Skateboard or longboard?

Question

is it stupid to buy a skateboard just to cruise in ?

i mean i no they make longboards,

but its just too big too carry around.

suggestions ?

longboards are amazing because it's like the bearings are fake. they just keep going and going and going. i love them. you should definitley go with a long board

its not stupid its pretty common and more useful. yes longboards are designed for cruising and are faster than a normal skateboard.

but a skateboard like u said are easy to carry, but lets say ur cruising and theres a curb, if ur longboarding u stop, pick up the board, set it down, get back on, and start skating but on a skateboard u just ollie, its a lot faster.

for cruising simply get mid or high trucks with hard, larger wheels and good bearings(any made by bones) and ull get just as fast, but u can ollie obstacles (gaps, stairs, onto rails, on/off ledges) longboards cant ollie so ur screwed, you can pick it up and walk over them but that defeats the purpose of a board if u gotta walk, or u can skate all the way around them.

and if u ever want to learn some basic tricks like a shuvit or kickflip just for some fun u wont be able to on a longboard.

A cruiser board, while classifies as a longboard is shorter than most longboards, but is longer than a regular deck.  Cruisers are generally 34-42" long and about 8-10" wide.  They have kicktails to ollie up curbs.  Their shorter length makes them more maneuverable than a longboard, but nit as stable at high speeds.
