Skating Issues?

I have no idea how to skate, and my class is going to a rink tomorrow. I need help, FAST!! I dont wanna fall flat on my face and be known as "that loser", and in middle school, if you do stupid stuff, you'll be known as "that loser". Anywho, please help me out, maybe by finding a tutorial video or by giving me tips on how to skate.

  1. Try to get your balance, and don't lean too far foreward, use the ball of your foot to push off of.

  2. well for one you prolly wont be the only "loser" because lots of people fall when they skate. and you could always ask a friend to help you out!  not to meantion the girls in your class may want to help ya out ;)

just try to have fun with it! you probably wouldnt have that much help with videos anyhow -- experience is better. just keep your legs slightly bent -- dont be all stiff and take baby steps at first until you get used to it. before you know it you'll be teaching some girls that need your help =]

  3. make sure you skate like an L push off with one blade then the other your feet should be making like a T when you push off.  If you want to stop shave the ice with the blade again like a T. If you have a toe pic use it (the serrated front part of the blade.

Hope that helps currently teaching six year old to skate.

  4. believe me unless your whole class is preps then you will have a few testing the patience of the skate guards and lots of them will be falling but here is a link to some (kinda annoying sounding) guy teaching skating techniques that will be very helpful to know

  5. why don't you ask a cute girl to help teach you??

i know at the rinks around me, there are cones that you can help skate with.

if you know how to rollerskate then ice skating is the same thing and vice versa.....

but it's like riding a bike, you need to do it to learn... you shouldn't have done it this last minute
