Skating and foot pain question?

Hey guys I got some serious foot pain on the very bottom of both feet while skating right below the balls of my feet. It happens along both feet and it seems to only happen when im skating alot I normally play goalie and this happens when im skating out of net. The pain almost feels like that part of my boot is too tight but i notice the pain in my roller skates which dont feel that tight to me. Is this a boot issue or a skating technique issue and what can i do to correct it? thanks!

  1. When you are a skater you tend to grip with the whole foot when balancing, without proper stretching the fascia (connective tissue) can become chronically tight, being triggered by putting on your skates which causes you to clench your feet, kind of a viscious cycle.  Remember to do extra feet stretches, manually stretch and massage your feet more often. A foot soak with baking soda and epsom salts can work wonders for releasing lactic acid build up.

  2. not skating enough isn't teh problem. try wearing a different variation of socks. you could try wearing two pairs, your skates might be too big and putting pressure on the front of your feet. your skates might be slightly too tight or maybe laced wrong. when my skates were laced wrong...they killed me. keep trying you'll get there

  3. U just gotta get used to it. I did the same n it doesn't hurt me now.

  4. What are you wearing on your feet in your skates?  Could it be too much friction from a thick sock?  Maybe try going barefoot or trying a thin sock.

The balls of my feet sometimes hurt after being on the ice for a long period of time, usually if I'm just standing and teaching.

Is the toe box of your skates maybe too small so that it is squeezing that are of your foot?  Maybe a wider width skate would help.

    Just some ideas.  Good luck!

  5. I had really bad foot pain for along time.  I always had cheap skates that never fit quite right.  its hard to find a nice pair for size 14 wide feet.  I spent the extra money on a nice pair of moldable skates.  the skate shop set me up and fitted them for me, and now it is amazing, comfortable as can be.  like said before, you could try all sorts of things to get the skates you have right not to be more comfortable. different socks, 2 pairs, you could try skipping loops when you lace them up, you could try stretching them out.  there are all sorts of things.  maybe even putting a drscholls insert could help, don't stop trying, hockey rules.
