Question:

Skating blades and boots?

I'm planning to change my skates and blades soon so could you help me decide on which pair would be best for me?

I'm currently doing axels and doubles and I'm using Risport RF2 boots and Vision blades.

Could you recommend me good skates for my level that are also easy to break in?

PS: I was thinking Paramount cause I LOVE their colours.

Thanks!!

  1. I would recommend Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medallion riedell boots because that's what I have and I'm working on the same stuff as you. I don't think you really need paramount blades. You can try Coronation Ace or Comet because they are good blades for double jumps...

  2. The new Riedell 1310's or 2010's (depending on how tall you are and how much you weigh).  They are super comfortable, light weight and they bend like the Jackson hinged boot.  If you are ready to go with a custom boot - go with Klingbeil.

As for blades - the Vision is perfect for what you are doing.  If you wanted to upgrade, go with Pattern 99.

FYI - Paramount blades are very noisy on the ice because they are stainless steel.  They are very light weight, but if you have the Reidell 1310 or 2010 you wouldn't need the light weight blade.

  3. I don't think Paramount comes in Parabolic... not quite sure though. I know MK and JW blades do. Parabolic is more of a "spinning" blade, while K-Pick is a "jumping" blade. Not all blades come in them though. As for boots, are you looking for a certain brand?

  4. I feel like getting paramounts too!!! :D Anyway, my friend is working on doubles too and she got custom made skates. If they're too expensive, then u should get RF4's. They're awesome!! DONT buy GOLD SEAL bec they break easily!
