I can jump up to a Salchow and am working on my scratch spin and change foot spin.

I'm 17 and would like an estimate of what I could be doing jump and spin wise in a year

  1. thats great!

and estimate would be around a single flip or lutz

depending on how much you skate and how strong your legs are, it could take more or less time.

    and spin wise,

a sitspin and maybe a camel.

a lot of people have difficulty with some jumps and not others.

it took me two years to land my double flip. and 3 days after to land my double lutz.

so, things can be delayed. and things can move fast. thats why its hard to estimate. dont feel bad if you dont get to that certain point by next year! it  could be a little over or a little under the mark.

    have fun skating :P

    senior year too!

  2. In a year, you should be doing flips and lutzes. change foot spins. Flying camels. loop combinations. But at your rate, by next year maybe the axel?

  3. i'm a figure skater as well and I'm around the same level as you (although I'm 13 so a little younger). I've also been skating around a year. I don't know what you will be doing in a year but next you will probably do loop jumps. Sorry I couldn't really help that much. Good luck with your skating.

  4. At that rate I'd say anywhere between a flip jump and a double salchow next year.

Spins, hmmm. Probably between camel spins and combo spins, maybe even laybacks.

  5. In a year you will have made a lot of progress. I think when you first start out it is the slowest part of learning new things. But learning the rest of your jumps will probably be pretty easy. I would say by next year you will be learning lutz or maybe axel depending on how hard you work. And spins you will be doing combo spins most likely.

    Good Luck.
