  1. Try doing a learn to skate session or basic skills session before skating. I did learn to skate for a week and basic skills for two years before figure skating.

  2. Begin with taking the basic figure skating lessons, and then they will work you into harder figure skating moves.

  3. yes , you should get the basics down before you learn the tricky stuff.

  4. if you got the basics down, there is no need to take beginning lessons, talk to the figure skating instructor for there opinion,,

  5. you should take the figure skating lessons you will learn so much faster and it is so fun or if you can a ford it then you should take both ok so good luck dude you will do great

  6. beginner lessons are cheaper than private figure skating lessons, and there are many different levels. probably you don't know absolutely everything in each level. if you know everything in the first level and can do it well, the instructor will probably go ahead and advance you to the next level.

and even if, by chance, you know EVERYTHING in the basic skills program already, beginner lessons will help you...

    1. to sharpen your existing skills

    2. to get to know the instructors and help you pick a coach

    3. to make friends.

of course, it's probably possible, depending on what rink you go to, to go ahead and take private figure skating lessons, which are more expensive but better if you really need a lot of one-on-one instruction or if you want to compete at the basic skills level.

good luck with whatever decision you make, and have fun skating!

  7. Yes, before taking any other lessons, you need to take the beginner lessons. You may think your good at skating but there is a lot you probably don't know. The beginner lessons will teach you the right way to do things, and the wrong way. They help so much. If your looking to take lessons from a private coach they usually like you to take the beginner classes first cause then you actually know what your doing, the way they want you to. Not the way you think is right. Good luck! and take the beginer's.

  8. try doing the basic skills program first. if u just ask someone at ur rink for it, you could probably start those lesson and then u should try figure skating. the only reason why you should do basic skills first is bc you need it for your programs and some of your jumps. they have a lil figure skating so you will get an idea of some of the stuff you will do ♥

  9. it helps if you cover the basics then when you get to figure skating it will help you a lot
