..something that seems "para normal"...where should they go? Who should they go to...for understanding? Should they just forget it..or try to get some understanding? Should they go to a psychiatrist who will drug them and say they're mentally ill..and then MAKE them mentally ill by telling them that they are & by drugging them.? Or should they go to a priest..who will call them a "kook"? Or, can they come here..where they are anonymous and might can find some understanding through others who have had similar experiences and maybe through real scientists who have some GOOD explanations? If we can't come here without being laughed at and ridiculed...WHERE CAN WE GO???

  1. I will listen and advise.

  2. Well, if you could slow down and explain what it is you're talking about it would make answering the question much, much easier.

  3. Deenie

To me, women are "beyond the realm of normal understanding"

    Does that make them paranormal?

  4. They shouldn't be laughed at or ridiculed, either here or anywhere.  There are two resources I can think of.  I actually think a paranormal investigation group CAN be beneficial, if they take a scientific approach to investigation.  Some don't, some do, so it's taking a chance.  Another resource is a local skeptical organization. They are all around, and it's highly likely that you could get someone to come out for free.

Other places to ask: try the psychology department of your local university and see if any of the professors there are studying anything to do with parapsychology. For that matter, try the Physics department if you're trying to understand "poltergeist" type activities.

Many states have scientific organizations. e.g., the Illinois Science Council. Such a place might be able to offer recommendations on who to contact for answers.

Online, there are literally dozens of online forums about the paranormal, ranging from full skeptic to full believer. A person can find a lot of input just from browsing these forums and asking questions. Yahoo Answers is only one of many places to ask questions. Right now, Yahoo has chosen to put Paranormal in the Science & Mathematics category, which means that scientific answers should be the norm for anything asked. I know that upsets some, but it appears to be Yahoo's choice.

  5. Aren't there places and forums around where you can go.If indeed you want paranormal explanations. There must be better places then this. Now I'm not telling you to do that.Only that here your going to get different answers. It's been a long time since I sought the advice of a priest.I can't imagine any of the ones I knew calling you a kook.If one did don't expect a different priest to do the same.Besides, whats wrong with being a kook?I'm a kook and proud of it.

Edit.I've many times spoke of my experiences.I've also supplied links.Sure, they're from mostly skeptical places.Where else will you find other explanations? To be honest spooky things don't happen to me.I'm not frightened by sounds and things that go bump in the night. It doesn't occur to me they're ghosts and demons.I can go into the woods at night alone or sleep in a cemetery.I don't worry about Bigfoot or being abducted by aliens.I honestly think there are perfectly natural explanations for all the things that happen to you.Without first hand knowledge, there's no way I can say what they are.I can only point you in a direction where you might find them.

  6. Denie,

This is as good a place to go as any.  I encourage people who are curious or who have questions to come on here to ask them.  However, once asked, the question should be open to all perspectives, not just the true believers.  I know you are a decent person and would agree with this statement.

The people who may be exposing themselves to ridicule are those who come here claiming as fact (i.e. PK) that which isn't.  If a guy posts a question saying, "I know PK is real.  How do I develop it?" then he deserves to have his unsubstantiated assertion (PK is real) challenged.

The bottom line is we need to have an open and non-hostile environment here.  Even if I disagree with what a person has to say I still support his right to say it.  Stifled dialog leads to an unhealthy and unproductive atmosphere.

  7. You come here dear. you tell what you have experienced, you let the people who know what they are talking about help you to understand it, and those who laugh at you, well... as my Grandfather used to tell me... ignore ingnorance.

  8. Depends on the paranormal experience you are having. If it's what you'd consider a haunting you could try TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society). They are usually willing to help out with unusual things. If you want credit to what they do check out Ghost Hunters at scifi.com or watch their show on the SciFi channel. They are the type to be scientific first and not call you crazy. They want to figure out exactly what it is to help someone.

    Hope this can help you.
