Ok, I'm going skiing tomorrow, I got my skis mounted about a month or two ago and I've ained about ten pounds since then, if it's just ten pounds over then will it effect the release like alot or whatever, but if it does, does anyone know how to change the weight setting on skis?

  1. it probably wont matter that much.  just leave them and ski on them.  if you bindings release prematurley, then crank up the din a notch or two.  Just take a screwdriver and turn the s***w in the toe and heel peices up.  Normal din for intermedate skiers is around 6-8 depending on weight

  2. DIN settings have little to do with weight. They deal mostly with force and torque. 10 lbs shouldn't affect the bindings.

You can't change the "Weight" setting because there is no such thing. It's called a DIN setting, and if you don't know what it is then you shouldn't be asking how to change it.

  3. hard to say 10lbs wouldn't effect my setting much but at din-setting 9.5  10lbs is really nothing but if your release setting is down around the 4 or 5 mark(average skier) 10lbs is alot of difference and will leave you flying down the hill on 1 ski after catching the slightest edge

It costs virtually nothing to have a ski shop change your setting. Just make sure you go to a responsible "SKI" shop that has a vermont din-setting calibrater(every good shop has one)...so many of these socalled sport-shops(today we have a blue light special on skis) just use a chart and twist the screwdriver until the little red thingy is near the little white thingy that the "chart" says it should be near(duh!...the homer simpson method)

  4. The setting you are talking about is called the DIN setting.  It takes height, weight, and ability into account, not just your weight.

You should be OK.  Go out and try them.  If your skis pop off easy when doing hard turns then you will have to have them adjusted.  Otherwise don't mess with them.  Best bet is to take them to a shop and have them do it.
