Question:

Ski Trip in Gatlinburg Help!?

My friends and I are going skiing at Ober Gatlinburg in Gatlinburg, TN. I have looked on the website & cannot tell if it is artificial snow or not. It doesn't say the appropriate wear for skiing either. I have waterproof clothes- but some of my friends don't. What would be the correct outfit for skiing if you can't afford to buy new waterproof clothes & other things?

P.S- I need a full wardrobe!

  1. I just went skiing this past weekend. We stayed in Gatlinburg but we went skiing at Cataloochee in Maggie Valley, NC. I know for sure that Ober is artificial but, my ski instructor said that the artificial is better to ski on sometimes than the real stuff. We had artificial in Cataloochee and it was great! We rented ski clothes for $16 which included the pants and jacket. Two of the people who track suits and jeans in our Ski class and they were soaked within an hour from falling in the snow and it melting on thier clothes. Rental shops could be located in pigeon forge or gatlinburg. They dont necassarily have to be ski clothes they can jsut be water resistant. We loved skiing so much that we are planning another trip to go back in a month! Have Fun!!!

  2. In Tennessee the majority of the snow will be artificial.

Any clothes that might be water repellant are good, if you don't have anything like that at least don't wear clothes that hold water (i.e. cotton). You can buy thin water resistant pants anywhere for around 20 bucks. Go check out Wal-mart or some place similar.
