I haven't gone skiing in like 3 years, but when I was I use the ski blades(the mini skis) and I am planning on going this winter. Everyone I talk to about the blades looks at me like I'm crazy. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

  1. Ski blades are, well, um, g*y.

  2. Yep it's not a popular thing in resorts but are just for small tricks at the park,  People tend to find them annoying in my opinion are sighted as a nuisance.  Well stick to it if you enjoy it's not the only thing you can use on hills.  Popular in some places but similar to the idea of a skibike, skibob, velopede, snow scooter, well you know what i mean snow inventions.

  3. Yep. They are still out there.

Worthless little trick sticks, in my opinion. I do hope they go away.

Although you never see them at my resort (Alta), they are annoying.

  4. The snow blades or skates are still in use, many skiers use them but I find them limiting in speed and stability. They do teach a very precise balance.

  5. Dont use ski blades.  Get some regular skis for our own good.

  6. They still make them.  I think Salomon has ones with releasable bindings now.  I highly recommend those.

The problem with ski blades is that the bindings aren't releasable and you can very easily mess up your knee or brake your lower leg.  Do yourself a favor and either get really short regular skis or get blades with bindings that won't put you in the hospital.

  7. yes those look fun

    go 4 it

    good luck

  8. Go there are some idiots out there!

I'm 47 and I use blades and I love them, they are so much easier to use than normal Length skis and they have helped with my balance, technique and confidence. I use them with poles because I just prefer it although technically you don't need to. Mine are Head 'Big Easy' blades and they're great. There is nothing stupid, dangerous, or g*y about them at all, It's a matter of personal preference. Lots of people use them in Europe especially off piste.

You go right ahead and do what you want, Sod everyone else!
