A family member is wanting to give us his 1988, 18.5 ft Seaswirl Sierra II open bow ski boat. We have a GMC Acadia, V6 front wheel drive, rated to pull 4500 pounds. I am interested in the wet weight of the boat, and if the Acadia will pull it. Thanks.

  1. You should have no problem pulling that boat. Don't let someone scare you and talk you into a bigger vehicle unless you really want a bigger vehicle.

  2. Jodi, the boat probably weights about 3000 pounds, plus another 200 for the trailer. Your Acadia will pull it without a problem.

  3. you should be fine, how ever make sure the transmission fluid it at the correct levels. If you do much low haul towing your boat it's wise to get the fuild and filter changed, not flushed. Additionally if you see oveheating problems during the hot summer when it reaches 105 or more outside you can have a transmission oil cooler added for additional protection.
