Ski trip questions?! about what i will need?! needs answers to these questions asap! i leave tomorrow morning!

Question

I only have one pair of long underwear so Can I use my cotton leggings for skiing? What kind of jacket do I need? would my tempest down northface jacket work? will I get it dirty?? Is cotton too cold to wear under my ski jacket?

well, if you are a new skier, you will be falling a lot and snow will get on your legs. you should not wear cotton leggings because cotton absorbs a lot of water and that is what you dont want. the best thing to do is wear long underwear or pjays. you should get a water resistant jacket so you dont get wet and cold out on the slopes. your down jacket should work but be prepared to get it a bit dirty. cotton is fine if you use it the right way. my best tip is to layer. hope this helped

okay this is what you will need. remember you MUST dress in layers. this is what most people wear:

base layer: thermal underware. yes, you can wear your cotton ones. make sure you have thermal underware in pants AND a top!

2nd layer: sweat pants over your pants thermals. also, a turtle neck over your shirt thermals.

3rd layer: a sweat shirt

4th layer: your north face should do the trick. if you are a beginner you will get it dirty by falling. also wear ski/snowboading/snow pants.

Accesories: a ski helmet! it keeps you warm and safe. If you choose not to buy one, make sure you wear a hat. Also, buy one of those neck gators that go around your neck. DONT wear a scarf....they usually bother you while your skiing. you're gonna need ski goggles as well. oh, and make sure you have WARM and waterproof gloves!

Cotton kills. NEVER wear cotton as a baselayer. You need a moisture wicking baselayer. Cotton will absorb your sweat and then freeze, making you colder and colder as the day goes on.

Jacket is fine.
