Can anyone tell me how to do a "Hockey stop" while skiing downhill? Does anyone have links to a tutorial or instructional video that they can show me? I really need to learn this!

  1. Turn both skiis with your feet in the same direction, at the same time. Engage your edges with more weight on the downhill ski, balance over the downhill ski and touch your pole to the snow as you face downhill at the stop to maintain balance.

DO NOT SPRAY YOUR FRIENDS WITH SNOW.

  2. First, put more weight on the front of your skis.  This will allow the back end to swing out more easily to hockey stop.  Also, when hockey stopping to the left, tilt your skis and shift your weight to the left; when hockey stopping to the right, do the opposite.  This will prevent you from "catching an edge."  It  won't take long to learn.

  3. Please take a lesson from a good instructor.

  4. have your shoulders down hill engage your edges (the more you engage them the faster you will stop.)
