Skiing advice?

EDIT: man you all make really good points. i dont think ill bother with the goodwill idea, though it is a good one. i spose i will talk it out with my folks about it. i cant choose between the first two answers so ill let the public decide. thanks guys

  1. Grinding is hard on the edges so I wouldn't use brand new skis, especially if you plan on skiing anything besides the park rails.  If you have more than one pair of skis then by all means, dedicate a pair to park use.

    If you're just learning and own 1 pair, use loaners.


  2. You may need to add grind plates to skis for which hire skis cannot be done (unless they are available like that), I would say that grinding would quickly kill unmodified skis. I'd say with your experience you should modify your own pair and practice with those, you'll likely catch on in a day!

  3. Why not get a used pair from the Goodwill or Aussie equivalent just for the rails?  They should be at a good price this time of year in your area.
