Skiing double diamonds?

how old were you when you started to ski double diamonds?

i was 14 do you think i am behind?

I was around 10, but that doesn't mean that I was any good. I am 16 now and I ski them 100 times better. I don't think you can ever be behind in skiing.

My buddy Walt didn't start skiing until he was in his 40's. I don't think you are behind.

Don't believe that you have to progress at a certain rate. If you don't think you are ready to ski a double-black, then you probably are not ready to do so. So don't rush it. Ski at the level you are comfortable skiing.

I must have been about 34, that's when they started marking the trails that way. Before then the names told you what you needed to know, "Brain Dead"  "Couloir Extreme" "7th Heaven".  Ski any run under control, in balance, use turn shape to control your speed. You aren't behind, just inexperienced, you learn to ski by skiing, you get better by falling some times. Use it as a learning experience, it teaches you not to do that stupid thing again.  Have fun, the sun is out and I must make my last trip of the season in a few minutes.

I don't think you are behind. I think i skied the first one when I was about 16, but I still ski them and I am 48. I ski them better now than I did when i was 16, but was probably the best around 30--this means I was never that good, but that's OK.

i was 8 but i think it just depend on how good of a skier u are and it relly dosent mater when u start it just deoends on how quickly you can learn

Hayden, I did'nt start skiing until I was 30!  24 years later, I'll ski anything- maybe not with grace and style, but I have a ball!  First- always ski with someone who is better than you, get out of the comfort zone and push yourself to do better.  Second- ski a lot, make mistakes and learn from them

You are absolutley not behind. I started hitting double blacks around when I was 12. Most people who dont live in the mountains never start really skiing until they get older. Don't worry; you'll learn at your own pace.

I was never taught very formally.  But I was still able to get down them at age 14, 3 years after learning.

I did my first at about 10 :D but I still suck at skiing now compared to most people :( But no your probably not behind because most of my friends did their first this year and were 14. It just depends on how much you ski, and where you ski.

ha when i was six my first run was down a black diamond and i've been hoooked ever since :)
